The filter indicator light on the Sub-Zero control panel is the first signal. A slow dispenser, slow ice or cloudy ice also point to a clogged filter: as contaminants build up, the filter restricts flow and pressure drops. Genuine cartridges and 600 Series models
Classic, Designer and PRO models take the genuine 4204490 cartridge, which our technicians replace, and we fit the genuine filter rather than a generic filter. The 642 and other Sub-Zero 600 Series models have no water filter, and one cannot be added inside. A plumber can add an aftermarket in-line filter to the supply line, but Sub-Zero does not sell or support one.
How often to change it
Sub-Zero filter life is about one year, or sooner if the indicator light comes on. After a replacement, reset the filter light on the appliance and run water for two minutes.
